Scot Murdoch has close to two decades of combined experience working in public relations, public affairs and media. Murdoch joined Randle Communications in 2014 and immediately stepped in to help the team with media outreach across accounts, including developing strategic messaging and pitch angels, finding the story for clients, and building relationships with reporters.
Murdoch also brings a decade of strategic writing and project management experience to his clients, having written and managed content for a variety of mediums, including earned media, newsletter and web content, speeches, scripts, social media platforms, collateral material and planning documents. His client portfolio includes Golden State Water, Covered California and the Mattress Recycling Council.
In 2022, Murdoch briefly left Randle to join the American River Parkway Foundation as Director of Communications and Public Affairs. During his time, Murdoch helped the foundation increase social media engagement, raise newsletter open rates, build an active and effective coalition of parkway users and businesses, and boost media coverage. Murdoch brought this experience back to Randle in 2023.
Prior to his time with Randle, Murdoch worked in the KFBK newsroom as an editor, producer and reporter. These duties included producing on-air content, being resourceful in the field and managing a news team. His understanding of how the news business works provides valuable insight for Randle clients.
Murdoch graduated in 2004 from California State University, Sacramento, with a double major in communications and criminal justice. He was drawn to the communications field after taking an internship in radio.
In his free time, Murdoch enjoys spending time with his wife and daughters, staying active, running around the American River Parkway and playing in the snow in Lake Tahoe.
